OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Gunner Stockton passed for four touchdowns and ran for another as No. 2 Georgia coasted to a 42-7 win over No. 12 Mississippi. Georgia dominated the opening 22 minutes with touchdown drives of 72, 96, 61 and 50 yards while Ole Miss crossed midfield once. Stockton finished 9 of 15 passing for 186 yards, directing the Bulldogs to a 28-0 halftime lead. Georgia finished with 482 yards of offense, 298 in the first half. The Bulldogs’ impressive all-around performance could elevate them into the top spot in the AP Top 25 after No. 1 Miami lost at No. 4 Notre Dame. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Urban Meyer is the latest to join Florida's ring of honor in football. Meyer's name was added to the wall in the Swamp after the first quarter of the Gators' game against Oklahoma. Meyer was the Florida coach for six seasons and won two national titles. The latter one in 2008 was against the Sooners. Meyer also won a national title at Ohio State. Only six others are on the ring of honor. Meyer joins Steve Spurrier as the only Florida coaches. COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Arch Manning threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns, leading No. 10 Texas to a 34-20 victory over No. 19 Missouri. The win helped the Longhorns, who were seventh in the initial College Football Playoff rankings released this week, stay in the hunt for the postseason bracket. Manning threw a 23-yard go-ahead touchdown pass to Raleek Brown with just over five minutes left, and the Longhorns made the stops they needed down the stretch to preserve the win. Austin Simmons had 234 yards passing and two TDs for the Tigers, who had been ranked No. 18 in the initial playoff rankings. COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Texas has revived its College Football Playoff hopes with a 34-20 victory over No. 19 Missouri. The No. 10 Longhorns got 297 yards passing and three touchdowns from Arch Manning on Saturday. It was their third straight win, two of those against ranked opponents. Texas had been written off after losses to unranked Oklahoma and Florida. Now, the Longhorns' playoff chances are back on track — they were No. 7 in the initial playoff poll. Coach Steve Sarkisian praised his team's resilience. Texas faces No. 14 LSU next, a significant game for Manning, who hails from New Orleans. The Longhorns are now 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the SEC. BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Keelon Russell passed for three touchdowns, Alabama’s defense made several pivotal fourth-down stops, and the ninth-ranked Crimson Tide pulled away for a 31-13 victory over No. 15 LSU on Saturday. The result kept Alabama firmly in the College Football Playoff picture, while leaving LSU with longshot hopes at best under first-year coach Lane Kiffin, who also dropped to 0-6 in his coaching career against Alabama. Russell’s touchdown passes went for 7-yards to Josh Ford, 25 yards to Cederian Morgan and 4 yards to Kaleb Edwards. LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt completed 35 of 47 passes for 380 yards, but was intercepted for the first time in three games as the Tigers struggled to cash in on scoring chances. BATON ROUGE, La (AP) — Lane Kiffin’s move to LSU hasn’t helped either yet when it comes to their historical difficulty against Alabama. This time LSU fizzled out in a 31-13 loss to the ninth-ranked Crimson Tide before a crowd sprinkled with dignitaries including First Lady Melania Trump and actor Kevin Costner. The result tarnishes Kiffin’s first season with the 15th-ranked Tigers and has left three-loss LSU with slim playoff hopes. Kiffin is now 0-6 in his career against Alabama, including one loss with Tennessee and four with Mississippi. LSU has lost seven of its last eight home games against the Crimson Tide. Kiffin says his staff and players just have to go back to work and “can't sit around feeling bad.” KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Daune Morris had an 66-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and No. 16 Tennessee’s stifling defense shut down No. 8 Kentucky 34-6 on Saturday night. The Volunteers (7-2, 4-2 in Southeastern Conference) are very much alive in the College Football Playoff race. They came in No. 13, while the Wildcats (7-2, 4-2), who had their six-game winning streak snapped, were No. 6. Tennessee had eight tackles for loss and forced three turnovers. Kentucky came into the game with one of the best turnover margins in the country. DeSean Bishop rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Kentucky’s Kenny Minchey threw for 224 yards. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — John Mateer did just enough with his arms and legs and Oklahoma's tough defense took care of the rest. The result was a 23-7 victory over the 25th-ranked Florida Gators. Mateer threw a pair of short touchdown passes. The last one ended a clock-eating, 20-play drive that covered 89 yards and effectively ended the game with five minutes to go. That put the Gators down by two touchdowns and they had to work hard to get the one score they had. The Sooners ended Florida's streak of 48 straight wins against teams playing in the Swamp for the first time.
