Here is the latest Big Ten Conference sports news from The Associated Press — Eau Claire Community news

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Dierre Hill Jr. rushed for two touchdowns, Dylan Raiola passed for 257 yards and Oregon rallied from an early two-touchdown deficit to hammer No. 11 Ohio State 41-28. The Ducks were down 14-0 late in the first quarter before scoring on four of their next five drives to take control of the game and deliver a stunning loss to the Buckeyes, who have dropped two straight games for the first time since 2011. Ohio State has also likely seen their chances of making the College Football Playoff dashed after opening the season as the top-ranked team in The Associated Press Top 25. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The UCLA Bruins used two 75-yard touchdown passes from Ty Dieffenbach to Aidan Mizell on consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter to speed away from the Minnesota Gophers in a 34-20 victory. They showed the Big Ten and the College Football Playoff selection committee yet another strength of their unbeaten breakout team. Mizell is a transfer from Florida who developed a connection with Dieffenbach while they worked with the backups during training camp. Dieffenbach took over at quarterback for the injured Nico Iamaleava last month. Dieffenbach had a career-high 303 yards and three touchdowns on just eight completions. SEATTLE (AP) — Penn State and Steelers great Jack Ham was in stable condition at the University of Washington Medical Center after a medical emergency Saturday as he was preparing for a radio broadcast, Nittany Lions coach Matt Campbell said after the game. Campbell opened his news conference after the Nittany Lions’ 28-25 victory by calling it “a gut-wrenching day for Penn State football.” According to Campbell, Ham’s broadcast partner, Steve Jones. made a “heroic effort” when the 77-year-old analyst experienced the emergency arriving at Husky Stadium. Ham was transported across the street to UW Medical Center. An All-American linebacker for Penn State in 1970, Ham went on to make eight Pro Bowls and win four Super Bowls in a 12-year NFL career. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ty Dieffenbach threw two 75-yard touchdown passes to Aidan Mizell in the fourth quarter for No. 5 UCLA, as the Bruins sped away from Minnesota to stay undefeated with a 34-20 victory. Wayne Knight rushed for 109 yards and his 15th score of the season to help keep the Bruins atop the Big Ten and boost their College Football Playoff bid after landing eighth in the first ranking this week. They're 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference. Dieffenbach had a career-high 303 yards on just eight completions to overcome an interception and a lost fumble. The Gophers are 5-4. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State played only its third game outside of the top 10 in Ryan Day’s eight-season tenure as coach on Saturday. After the 11th-ranked Buckeyes 41-28 faceplant against Oregon, next week’s game against Northwestern could mark the first time in 15 years that they aren’t in The Associated Press Top 25 poll. Ohio State was the nation’s top-ranked team in the preseason, but find itself at 6-3 and likely out of the playoff picture. Day has three losses in a season for the first time. After a 16-game winning streak that began during the 2024 CFP title run and continued through the first 12 games of last year, the Buckeyes have gone 6-5. EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Hank Brown threw for a touchdown and ran for another, and Braeden Jackson returned a kickoff for a TD for the second time this season as No. 21 Iowa beat Northwestern 24-10. It was the fifth straight win for the Hawkeyes over the Wildcats, and Northwestern lost for the first time at the new Ryan Field. The Hawkeyes have allowed only two touchdowns in the past three games. They recorded six sacks and didn’t allow the Wildcats inside their 26-yard line until the fourth quarter. Brown was 16-of-21 passing for 126 yards with an interception. Northwestern has dropped two straight after a 6-1 start. ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Liam Boyd made five field goals on five attempts and Michigan State’s defense forced four turnovers and had five sacks in a 15-6 win over Michigan on Saturday night. The Spartans snapped a six-game losing streak and helped coach Pat Fitzgerald end a 13-game Big Ten losing streak, dating to the 2022 season-opening game at Northwestern. The Wolverines scored with 1:35 left on Savion Hiter’s 1-yard run to avoid being shut out for the first time since 2014 and Tommy Carr was sacked on a 2-point conversion to seal the defeat. WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Malik Washington ran for two scores and threw for two more Saturday as the Maryland Terrapins overcame a sluggish first half to beat Purdue 34-29. The Terrapins (3-6, 1-5) snapped a 13-game losing streak in conference play and gave Aazaar Abdul-Rahim his first win since being named interim coach after Michael Locksley was fired. Washington was 13 of 18 for 253 yards and one interception and rushed eight times for 32 yards though he put a brace over his left knee during the second half. DeJuan Williams scored on a 75-yard run and Chris Durr Jr. had a nifty 87-yard TD catch to essentially seal the win. Purdue has lost three straight. Fame Ijeboi and Xavier Townsend each had a TD run.
